Kindergarten Roundup...what?!?

This past Thursday, we headed to Kindergarten Roundup at the school Hudson will be attending next year.  Since we are moving, he will be going to a different school than the one I taught at.  I have to say, it was weird walking in a school and not knowing any of the teachers.  Once we got in though, and started making our way through the different stations and then finally to the Kindergarten hallway, I was so pleased with everyone we met.  They were all SO nice and I was so impressed with all of the teachers. As a former Kindergarten teacher, I have a whole new perspective on the parent side!!!  Hudson was pretty shy and stuck to our sides pretty tight, but seemed to be in awe of how big the classrooms were.  He really opened up to two of the teachers.  I know he'll feel at home before we know it, but I have to admit that I had a lump in my throat walking in.  I still can't believe how fast the time has blows my mind.
Here's to my sweet boy loving his first year of school!!

Lights and Tile!

This past Thursday, the 11th, after Kindergarten roundup, we drove by the house and discovered that most of the lighting had been installed as well as the tile.  Yea...we'll have lights!!  :)
 Dining room
 Living room
 Master shower almost done.
I finally realized why the island has been in the living room this whole time...they had to lay the tile in the kitchen!
We did find out the next day that our closing has been pushed back, which means we can't move in until 9 days after we have to move out of our current house.  Fun times!  So, we will be hiring movers twice ~ once to move everything to storage and once to move everything to the new house.  In the meantime, we'll be staying with my mom.  I'm sure it will be a blip in the radar a few months from now, but I have been a stressed out individual since last Friday!!   Here's hoping we don't get any more surprises!!

A driveway and some stain!

This past Sunday, we stopped by the house and were excited to see more progress!!  The first exciting thing this time was that the driveway and sidewalks had been poured!   No more muddy shoes when we go now!  :)
Then, when we walked in I saw paint and stain!  Yippee!!  All of the walls and trim had been painted and all of the cabinets had been stained.  It is becoming ridiculous how excited I get about things like paint and stain!
I am still in love with the mud closet!!  Hudson's backpack can't wait to have a home!
 The stairs.
The island is still hanging out in the living room and the stone on the fireplace is now complete.
Another really random thing...the ceiling in our bedroom.  Yep, ceilings make me happy too!  :)
I'm hoping for more exciting things like fixtures and tile on my next Sunday walk through!

Zoo Day!

Hudson has been asking recently when we could to the zoo.  He is such an animal lover and has always loved the zoo, so when I saw that the weather was going to be nice this Saturday, we decided to make a day of it.  We didn't tell him until we woke him up that morning and he was beyond excited!  The most random part of the day is that he wanted his picture taken with all of the fake animals.  My child who never wants his picture taken, was posing and hamming it up every chance he got.  It was hilarious!
Acting like the alligator was biting him! :)

Feeding the giraffe was definitely one of the best parts of the day!
We had to snap a few family pics while eating lunch.  :)
Yep, that would be Hudson's hand in the picture!

Check out Kelly's face in this picture.  This innocent looking bird took a big chomp out of his finger!!  Let's just say that Hudson was NOT interested in feeding the birds after that incident!

My silly boy taking a few more pics with fake animals before heading home!  Love him!

We drove by the house Monday night and now in addition to walls, we have cabinets!  Hooray!  It really is the little things in life.  :)  Now that April is here, the 28th is staring us in the's hoping it is move in ready by then!
The trim was painted on the outside.
Our little mud closet.  I'm in love!
 Part of the kitchen:
The island was in the living room...
 Master bathroom cabinets.
Yep, cabinets make me happy!  :)

Easter 2013

We started our Easter weekend off this year by going to our church's Easter Eggstravaganza like we do every year.  Before the hung began, Hudson gave me his best sad face while holding his empty basket.  Nut!
When the race began, he was like a machine!  It was hilarious!!  I have never seen a kid pick up eggs so fast in my life!  Gone are the days of my timid boy wanting help picking up eggs.  :)

He was very proud of his FULL basket!
The next morning, he awoke to find his basket filled with some fun goodies.
He was really excited about the glow bubbles!  (Mommy is pretty excited about these too!!)

After a beautiful church service, we came home to dye eggs and eat lunch.  Hudson loved the superhero swim towel that Noni brought him.

My friend Leslie joined us for lunch this year...what a special treat!  :)
Since we woke to POURING rain this year, we had our egg hunt in the house since our backyard looked like a swamp!  Hudson loved all of the tricky places we kept hiding eggs and we had hunts over and over and over again!

It was an absolute wonderful day celebrating our Risen Savior!  Hudson told me when he went to bed that night that he was sad Easter was over...precious!

This past week, we stopped by the house to see what progress had been made and were so happy to see walls!!!  It is so fun to see it start to take shape.
This is from the entryway of the house looking into the living room.
The stone on the fireplace was halfway up.
Standing in the living room looking back towards the front door.
The kitchen is on the right and dining room on the left.
