Peek-A-Boo

For the past few weeks, Hudson has been playing a little game of Peek-A-Boo when I go in to get him from his naps. He pushes his bumper down and peeks through the slats on his crib. I now crawl in his room instead of walk in to play the game! I finally grabbed the camera to capture it on film!
There's Mommy!

I see you!!

Playdate!

This past Thursday, two of my best friends from college came over with their kiddos for a playdate. It is so fun to have friends with kids around the same age as Hudson...it will be so fun to watch them grow over the years.

Random Pics

Here are some random pictures that I took of Hudson this past week...pictures that make me smile! Hopefully they will make you smile too! :)
I laugh everytime I look at Hudson's "sausage wrists" or "rubberband wrists"!
If Hudson is just sitting or laying down, he crosses his legs...it is the cutest thing. He often rubs his feet together...Aunt Shani calls him "cricket".

He is now in his big boy car seat and just loves it. I can't wait for him to face forward...he is going to go nuts!

Daddy fixes Hudson's hair after this bath every night...his "do" lately has been a mohawk!

Lake Texoma

For as long as I can remember, I have spent summer weekends at our cabin at Lake Texoma. I grew up playing in the sand, taking boat rides, tubing (I've never enjoyed skiing!), and most importantly spending time with family. Hudson got to spend his first weekend at Lake Texoma this weekend and I'm pretty sure he loved it as much as I always have. I can't wait for him to look forward to summer each year because summer means it is time to go to the lake. :)
Hudson and I sitting in the boat as we were about to put it in the water for the first time this summer. Don't you just love his life jacket?
Taking his first boat ride. He absolutely loved riding in the boat and he loved it more and more the faster Paw-Paw drove it. As Nana said...Hudson will be saying "Faster Paw-Paw, faster!" in the years to come!!
OK...this is one of my all time favorite pictures of him now!! We were back from a boat ride and he was getting all lathered up again.

Being at the cabin was a great way to spend Father's Day...Hudson got to be with his Daddy and his Paw-Paw...perfect! He was a lot of help when it came to opening presents too.
It was a such a fun weekend and such a nice Father's Day. I already can't wait to go back for the 4th of July!

10 Months!

TEN MONTHS! I can’t believe my little boy is ten months old. Not only that, I can’t believe a year is sneaking up on us so quickly!! Month nine has been an exciting month for Hudson. He is sleeping SO GOOD at night…goes down at 6:00 (yes, 6:00…I know it is early but the little guy is sleepy!) and doesn’t get up until 7:00 the next morning. He is still taking two naps during the day. Sometimes he still takes the third one, but I think he is trying to cut that nap out since it doesn’t happen consistently anymore. I love watching him play these days…he gets very focused on what he is doing and is definitely a “busy” boy! He has also discovered that if he drops something, an adult will pick it back up for him. This occurs mostly in his high chair, but in other places too. He will drop it, then lean over to look at it until it is in his hands again. He is still eating just wonderfully ~ he seems to love anything and everything that is put into his mouth. He is enjoying “real” pieces of food, but would still prefer for it to be placed in his mouth. He plays with it and pushes it around his tray more often than eating it. He plays with his sippy cup too most of the time instead of drinking from it. Oh well…he’ll get the hang of it eventually. He is finally crawling…it is more of a modified rolling reverse army crawl. While most kids pull themselves with their arms and keep their legs straight, Hudson is doing the opposite. He is getting his legs going, but not pushing up on his arms as much, so he basically throws himself forwards…it is quite hilarious to watch, but he gets where he wants! That is one of the things I love most about him ~ he does everything on his own schedule and does it his own way. (Remind me that I made this comment when he is a teenager…ha!) He still smiles all the time and loves being around people. He is starting to get more and more of an opinion though and is showing his first signs of tantrums if something happens that he doesn’t like. Should I be scared?? Yikes! All in all, life with Hudson is absolutely wonderful and I can’t wait to see what the next month brings!

Coming for the toy I was waving around to get smiling pictures with! :)
Almost there...
Got it!

Hudson got to spend his 10 month birthday by spending it with Noni and going to the eye doctor for the first time. Noni has been going to the same eye doctor for years and when he found out that Hudson arrived, he told her that babies need to have their eyes checked in their first year. I had no idea! So, we made the appointment and all went together. Dr. Newman used puppets and all sorts of fun things for Hudson to focus on while he checked out his eyes. His nurse also gave Hudson a toy duck to play with and Hudson promptly bit his bill right off!! Little toot! Who knew that could be done with only two teeth! The appointment went great and his eyes are just perfect…yea!

After his eye appointment we went out to eat. Hudson had a great time playing with his Noni!

Swimming Lessons!

Today was an exciting day...it was Hudson's first day of swimming lessons at Emler Swim School. We enrolled with three other friends from playgroup ~ Amy & Porter, Kara & Tanner, and Meredith & Reid. (There are two other boys in the class, so again he is with all boys...too funny!) I arrived kind of nervous, not knowing how Hudson would do. He was ALL SMILES the minute we got in the pool. He just kept looking around smiling at me, the instructor, and his friends. We sang a few songs and splashed a little and then began the activities. The first activity was for the boys to get in a yellow blow up tube and for us to pull them around. There were also colored balls in the pool for them to play with. Hudson saw the balls and literally jumped through the tube going head first into the water. I immediately grabbed him and pulled him up. He saw Meredith first and she smiled and cheered for him, but after about 10 seconds he realized that he didn't enjoy plunging his head into the water and started crying. :( Poor thing. It only took a few minutes to cheer him up though and he was back to enjoying his first lesson...he even enjoyed sitting on the edge of the pool and being pulled into the water. (Head out of the water though!) It was such a fun lesson ~ I hope he continues to enjoy them and learns a lot at the same time. It must have worn him out because my little dare devil took an extra long afternoon nap when we got home!
(These pictures aren't that good, but I had to document his first lesson anyway!)

We missed Tanner today...he was sick. :(

Lake Tahoe

WOW...what a week! We got back from a week long vacation to Lake Tahoe on Thursday and it was great. The main reason for this trip was to see my Dad and sister ride in the 100 mile bike tour for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. They did AWESOME!!! Together they raised over $8,000!! I'm still not sure how they rode up some of those giant mountains, but they both finished and looked great when they did. I couldn't be more proud! There were a lot of firsts for Hudson including his first plane ride, first of many foods that were being slipped to him, first beach...the list goes on. Keep reading for a recap of the trip...
This is Hudson just as happy as can be riding in the tram at DFW.
Hudson enjoyed the first part of the plane ride. At first he was just looking out the window and smiling and playing. However, it didn't last long. It was nap time, and he is one of those babies that does not want to be held or rocked to sleep...he wants to lay down, preferably in his own bed. So, poor little guy fought sleep the entire 3 1/2 hour trip. There was a total of about 20 minutes of crying, but we made it! On the way back to Dallas, they had an extra row of seats, so we were able to take his carseat on board and he went to sleep...MUCH BETTER!!!
The morning of the bike tour, we got up and went downstairs to see them ride away. Here is Hudson in his jammies with his sign to cheer on his Paw-Paw and Aunt Shani.
Here is my Dad with only about 18 miles more to go!!
Hudson LOVED this sign...he loved it so much he decided to take a giant bite out of it after this picture was taken.
Shani stopped for a minute to chat before going on to finish...same spot...she had about 18 miles left.
Dad and Shani after the race. GO TEAM!!
Nana and Hudson on the beach. He got to put his feet in the sand for the first time. Lake Tahoe was absolutely gorgeous!!!!!
This was Hudson's first orange. It was a hit!
Paw-Paw and Hudson at dinner...his favorite eating out toys on vacation were Paw-Paw's glass case, Aunt Shani's sunglasses and Eric's phone. He actually slobbered on the phone so much it quit working. Oops!! (He wanted a new phone, so it worked out OK.)
He did get some food in his mouth, I promise! :)

Hudson took his bath in the sink at the condo and just loved it!!

We drove around part of Lake Tahoe one afternoon to see what Dad and Shani saw on their ride. Again, it was just beautiful!! Hudson was asleep on this ride, so he didn't get to enjoy the view.

Our Family
We were at the Reno airport waiting to board and Hudson was getting a little antsy, so Kelly got a dollar out and put it in a penny slot machine so Hudson could look at all of the lights. Well, he started pressing buttons and the little toot won $61!!! We are going to deposit it into his account...it will definitely be a funny story to tell!
Hudson with his winnings!! :)
All in all, it was a great trip. We were so happy to be able to be there to support Dad and Shani in their bike tour, and to get to spend a week with family after that was just icing on the cake!
