For the past few weeks, Hudson has been playing a little game of Peek-A-Boo when I go in to get him from his naps. He pushes his bumper down and peeks through the slats on his crib. I now crawl in his room instead of walk in to play the game! I finally grabbed the camera to capture it on film!

Playdate!
This past Thursday, two of my best friends from college came over with their kiddos for a playdate. It is so fun to have friends with kids around the same age as Hudson...it will be so fun to watch them grow over the years.

Lake Texoma
For as long as I can remember, I have spent summer weekends at our cabin at Lake Texoma. I grew up playing in the sand, taking boat rides, tubing (I've never enjoyed skiing!), and most importantly spending time with family. Hudson got to spend his first weekend at Lake Texoma this weekend and I'm pretty sure he loved it as much as I always have. I can't wait for him to look forward to summer each year because summer means it is time to go to the lake. :)

10 Months!
TEN MONTHS! I can’t believe my little boy is ten months old. Not only that, I can’t believe a year is sneaking up on us so quickly!! Month nine has been an exciting month for Hudson. He is sleeping SO GOOD at night…goes down at 6:00 (yes, 6:00…I know it is early but the little guy is sleepy!) and doesn’t get up until 7:00 the next morning. He is still taking two naps during the day. Sometimes he still takes the third one, but I think he is trying to cut that nap out since it doesn’t happen consistently anymore. I love watching him play these days…he gets very focused on what he is doing and is definitely a “busy” boy! He has also discovered that if he drops something, an adult will pick it back up for him. This occurs mostly in his high chair, but in other places too. He will drop it, then lean over to look at it until it is in his hands again. He is still eating just wonderfully ~ he seems to love anything and everything that is put into his mouth. He is enjoying “real” pieces of food, but would still prefer for it to be placed in his mouth. He plays with it and pushes it around his tray more often than eating it. He plays with his sippy cup too most of the time instead of drinking from it. Oh well…he’ll get the hang of it eventually. He is finally crawling…it is more of a modified rolling reverse army crawl. While most kids pull themselves with their arms and keep their legs straight, Hudson is doing the opposite. He is getting his legs going, but not pushing up on his arms as much, so he basically throws himself forwards…it is quite hilarious to watch, but he gets where he wants! That is one of the things I love most about him ~ he does everything on his own schedule and does it his own way. (Remind me that I made this comment when he is a teenager…ha!) He still smiles all the time and loves being around people. He is starting to get more and more of an opinion though and is showing his first signs of tantrums if something happens that he doesn’t like. Should I be scared?? Yikes! All in all, life with Hudson is absolutely wonderful and I can’t wait to see what the next month brings!
Hudson got to spend his 10 month birthday by spending it with Noni and going to the eye doctor for the first time. Noni has been going to the same eye doctor for years and when he found out that Hudson arrived, he told her that babies need to have their eyes checked in their first year. I had no idea! So, we made the appointment and all went together. Dr. Newman used puppets and all sorts of fun things for Hudson to focus on while he checked out his eyes. His nurse also gave Hudson a toy duck to play with and Hudson promptly bit his bill right off!! Little toot! Who knew that could be done with only two teeth! The appointment went great and his eyes are just perfect…yea!

Swimming Lessons!
Today was an exciting day...it was Hudson's first day of swimming lessons at Emler Swim School. We enrolled with three other friends from playgroup ~ Amy & Porter, Kara & Tanner, and Meredith & Reid. (There are two other boys in the class, so again he is with all boys...too funny!) I arrived kind of nervous, not knowing how Hudson would do. He was ALL SMILES the minute we got in the pool. He just kept looking around smiling at me, the instructor, and his friends. We sang a few songs and splashed a little and then began the activities. The first activity was for the boys to get in a yellow blow up tube and for us to pull them around. There were also colored balls in the pool for them to play with. Hudson saw the balls and literally jumped through the tube going head first into the water. I immediately grabbed him and pulled him up. He saw Meredith first and she smiled and cheered for him, but after about 10 seconds he realized that he didn't enjoy plunging his head into the water and started crying. :( Poor thing. It only took a few minutes to cheer him up though and he was back to enjoying his first lesson...he even enjoyed sitting on the edge of the pool and being pulled into the water. (Head out of the water though!) It was such a fun lesson ~ I hope he continues to enjoy them and learns a lot at the same time. It must have worn him out because my little dare devil took an extra long afternoon nap when we got home!
(These pictures aren't that good, but I had to document his first lesson anyway!)

We missed Tanner today...he was sick. :(

Lake Tahoe
WOW...what a week! We got back from a week long vacation to Lake Tahoe on Thursday and it was great. The main reason for this trip was to see my Dad and sister ride in the 100 mile bike tour for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society. They did AWESOME!!! Together they raised over $8,000!! I'm still not sure how they rode up some of those giant mountains, but they both finished and looked great when they did. I couldn't be more proud! There were a lot of firsts for Hudson including his first plane ride, first of many foods that were being slipped to him, first beach...the list goes on. Keep reading for a recap of the trip...
All in all, it was a great trip. We were so happy to be able to be there to support Dad and Shani in their bike tour, and to get to spend a week with family after that was just icing on the cake!
